The results of the latest edition of the international QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026 have been announced. TUL maintained its presence in the ranking, placing 381st in Europe and within the 1051–1060 range globally.

In Poland, it ranked 15th among 26 universities. The university performed best in the “Health & Wellbeing” indicator group, which assesses the institution’s commitment to improving human health and well-being (through research) as well as the welfare of staff and students. In this category, TUL ranked 356th worldwide.

This year’s edition included nearly 2,000 institutions from around the world, highlighting the growing importance of sustainability efforts in higher education. The leaders of the ranking are: Lund University (Sweden), University of Toronto (Canada), and University College London (United Kingdom). In Poland, the highest-ranked universities were: Jagiellonian University (271st), University of Warsaw (286th), and University of Gdańsk (363rd).

The QS Sustainability Ranking analyzes universities’ contributions to building a sustainable future, based on 53 indicators grouped into three areas: environmental impact, social impact, and governance.

QS World University Rankings: Sustainability evaluates universities’ actions in the areas of environment, social responsibility, and corporate governance (ESG). The ranking is based on evidence of engagement—from the impact graduates have on science and technology to address climate issues, to the influence of research conducted in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals—allowing for an assessment of academic institutions’ contributions to building a sustainable future.
