The latest results of the European Engineering Studies Ranking – EngiRank 2025 – have been published. The podium was taken by: Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Delft University of Technology, and KU Leuven – leaders in innovation and research in Europe. Five Polish technical universities made it into the top 100, with AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków ranking highest in the country (50th place).
The EngiRank 2025 results were officially announced on December 1 in Brussels during the seminar “Engineering for Security: Universities and Industry in Service of Defense”, attended by rectors of leading European universities and representatives of major defense companies such as Patria, Leonardo, PGZ, Rheinmetall, Safran Group, and Rolls-Royce. Among the panelists was Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik – Rector of Lodz University of Technology – representing our university in a discussion on the role of engineering in Europe’s security.
In addition to the overall classification, subject-specific rankings were also published, covering the main engineering disciplines. Lodz University of Technology was ranked in all seven categories. It performed best in Chemical Engineering, taking 3rd place in Poland and 77th in Europe. In Mechanical Engineering, it ranked 5th nationally and 131st in Europe. In three categories, it placed 6th in Poland: Electrical, Electronic & Information Engineering (EEI) – 110th in Europe; Materials Engineering – 153rd; and Medical Engineering – 116th. In Civil Engineering (126th in Europe) and Environmental Engineering (180th in Europe), it ranked 9th nationally.
The EngiRank ranking is fully transparent and based exclusively on external data. It considers not only publications and citations but also cooperation with industry, patents, participation in EU programs (Horizon Europe, Erasmus+), engineering accreditations (ENAEE, ABET), and contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals. Thanks to this, it is a reliable tool for prospective students and employers, showcasing the real potential of universities.
EngiRank 2025 was developed for the third time by the Educational Foundation Perspektywy – a leader in educational rankings in Poland. Data for the ranking comes from the Scopus Elsevier database, the European Patent Office PATSTAT, Horizon Europe, and organizations accrediting engineering studies (ABET, ENAEE).
