Kateryna Bodko comes from Ukraine, from Kherson. She is a third-year student of Space Engineering. Today, she tells us how she prepared for her studies in Polish and why she decided to leave her country and family to study at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TUL. Enjoy reading!

Why did you decide to travel so many kilometers to study at TUL?

I've been in Poland for a long time, I liked the possibility of making my dreams come true and getting to know a different culture, which is definitely different from my country's culture. Lodz University of Technology gave me a chance to develop and demonstrate my skills. I decided to study at this particular institution a few years earlier and with small steps, I pursued my goal. First, I took Polish language classes in my home country, then, at the age of 14, I decided that it would be best to go to a Polish school to get to know the culture and language of this country in practice. In order to do this, I had to leave my own home and family, all so that I could study at one of the best universities in Poland. Was it worth it? Of course! Now I am almost in my final year and I am aiming for a Master's degree.

What were your first impressions when you started studying at TUL?

It was surprising to me that most of the things we had to do as students were done practically, which in turn allowed us to put prior theoretical knowledge into practice. I also discovered the possibility of doing a foreign internship and taking advantage of Erasmus offers, which is very important to graduates who are looking for a job related to their field of study.

Why did you choose Space Engineering?

Studying such a unique major as Space Engineering, in Poland, gave me the opportunity to learn things that are not available at other universities or not even in other countries. It is a great opportunity for me and for other students to use their knowledge to further explore the still unknown space.

What job would you like to do in the future?

In the future, I would definitely like to link my profession with my field of study. Lodz University of Technology provides students with everything to develop and carry out scientific research in the space industry.
