How can universities strengthen community engagement while navigating growing expectations, limited resources and a rapidly changing environment? The European University Community Engagement Guide offers a practical framework for reflection, dialogue and strategic decision-making.

The Guide is one of the core outcomes of the Erasmus+ ACE project (Alliance for Community Engagement in European Higher Education), coordinated by Lodz University of Technology and developed together with partners from Estonia, Irland, Serbia, Germany and Denmark. It draws on the project's strategic foresight process, combining horizon scanning, stakeholder dialogues and analysis of emerging challenges and opportunities for community engagement in European higher education.

At the heart of the Guide are 16 Strategic Pressure Points organised across six thematic areas. They highlight important tensions and choices universities face in areas such as institutional capacity, learning and skills, trust and knowledge, participation, civic responsibility and sustainable partnerships.

The Guide is designed as a practical tool. It includes questions for institutional reflection, two ready-to-run workshop formats, and a template that universities can use to define their own Strategic Pressure Points.

Explore it. Use it. Share it.

We invite colleagues at Lodz University of Technology and beyond to explore the Guide, use it in discussions and workshops, and share it with colleagues, partners and networks interested in community engagement.
