The results of the latest edition of the prestigious international U.S. News Best Global Universities 2026–2027 ranking have been released. The ranking includes both the overall institutional classification of universities and subject-specific rankings.

In the institutional ranking, Lodz University of Technology (TUL) was ranked 1,738th worldwide, 543rd in Europe, and 26th among Polish universities. This year's edition included 2,250 of the world's leading universities, including 41 higher education institutions from Poland. The highest-ranked Polish universities were Jagiellonian University (394th worldwide), the University of Warsaw (435th), and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (817th).

In this year's edition, TUL was ranked in as many as five scientific disciplines, confirming its growing visibility and strong position within the international academic community.

Polymer Science remains the University’s strongest field, with TUL ranked 215th globally and recognized as the only Polish institution included in this subject ranking. Lodz University of Technology was also ranked in Chemistry (687th worldwide and 7th in Poland), Materials Science (772nd worldwide and 8th in Poland), Physics (968th worldwide and 10th in Poland), and Engineering (1,066th worldwide and 10th in Poland). In each of these disciplines, the University was placed among the world’s leading research institutions.

The U.S. News Best Global Universities ranking, both in its institutional and subject-specific categories, is based on 13 indicators grouped into three areas: research reputation (25% of the overall score), bibliometric indicators (65%), and scientific excellence indicators (10%). The results are published by the American media company U.S. News & World Report, which has been producing internationally recognized higher education rankings since the mid-1980s.
