This year’s edition of the THE World University Rankings included 2,297 universities from 118 countries. The University of Oxford retained the top position for the eleventh consecutive year. It was followed by two leading American institutions: the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Princeton University. Notably, three Asian universities entered the top fifteen for the first time, highlighting the growing global influence of higher education in Asia.
A total of 44 Polish universities were included in the THE World University Rankings 2027. The highest-ranked Polish institution was the Wroclaw Medical University (451-500), followed by Jagiellonian University (551-600). Third place, shared ex aequo, was awarded to the Medical University of Lodz and the University of Warsaw (801-1000).
Lodz University of Technology was placed in the 1601-1800 range worldwide. The university’s strongest performance was recorded in the Industry category, which measures the effectiveness of collaboration with industry and the broader socio-economic environment.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027 are based on the WUR 3.0 methodology. Universities are assessed across five key areas: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook. The outstanding result achieved by Lodz University of Technology in the Industry category reflects its commitment to building strong partnerships with business, supporting innovation, and translating research outcomes into practical applications.
