“TUL Welcomes Beyond Borders” is a project focused on enhancing the university’s potential in international cooperation, hosting and supporting international visitors, and increasing its competitiveness on the global stage. The project will be implemented through four complementary tasks, involving specific activities and tools:

• Task 1 – staff competence development (International TULkit) – a series of training sessions and workshops for staff involved in internationalisation processes, focusing on the development of digital, promotional, and intercultural competencies.

• Task 2 – IT system development (TUL Connect) – implementation of an IT system supporting international cooperation and data analysis, enabling the monitoring of internationalisation indicators and recruitment effectiveness.

• Task 3 – image-building and integration campaigns (#FacesOfTUL) – activities promoting openness and tolerance within the academic community, while strengthening international communication.

• Task 4 – immersive promotional campaign (TUL Beyond Borders) – development of an innovative, immersive promotional campaign targeted at international candidates, based on modern multimedia and interactive formats. This will include, among others: a series of short video materials (vlogs, mini-reports) showcasing the lives of international students at TUL, published on social media; storytelling content based on authentic student experiences; modern multimedia content and initiatives replacing traditional promotional formats, such as a Virtual Open Day, as well as solutions using immersive and VR technologies, enabling prospective students to explore the university without physical presence.

The “OpenTUL” project, in turn, aims to strengthen the university’s internationalisation potential by 30 April 2028 through the implementation of a comprehensive support system for international students, doctoral candidates, and staff.

As part of the project, the following initiatives will be developed:

• TUL International Mobility Support Network – an integrated system of cooperation between the Welcome Point and Faculty Mobility Ambassadors, ensuring consistent standards of service for international visitors.

• Mobility Essentials – an English-language onboarding platform providing practical information on procedures, academic life, and living in Łódź and Poland.

• International-Friendly Dormitory – modern, bilingual signage in student residences and activities promoting this form of accommodation.

• Mobility Ambassadors Academy – a professional training programme for staff supporting international guests in their adaptation process.

• TUL International – active promotion of the university’s offer and potential at key international education fairs.

The project will be implemented in accordance with the principles of accessibility, equal opportunities, and sustainable development.

Both projects continue the university’s previous efforts under the Welcome to Poland programme and focus on overcoming formal, linguistic, and cultural barriers associated with undertaking studies in Poland. Their outcome will include the development of sustainable solutions—staff competencies, IT systems, and modern communication and promotion tools—supporting the further internationalisation of Lodz University of Technology.

The projects are implemented under the Welcome to Poland programme, financed by the European Union under the European Funds for Social Development 2021–2027 (FERS) within the NAWA project “Support for higher education and research institutions in servicing foreign nationals and Poles going abroad” (project no. FERS.01.05.IP.08-0003/24).
