The QS World University Rankings: Sustainability uses a methodology comprised of indicators designed to measure an institution's ability to tackle the world’s greatest environmental, social and governance (ESG) challenges. It enables an analysis of how academic institutions contribute to building a sustainable future. The ranking is based on evidence of engagement, ranging from the impact alumni are making in science and technology to address climate issues to the impact of research aligned with the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The QS Sustainability methodology evaluates 53 metrics grouped into three areas: environmental impact, social impact, and governance. TUL performed best in the latter, where it was ranked 687th globally.
