Lodz University of Technology carries out student exchanges under the Erasmus+ academic mobility programme with selected universities around the world.

A traineeship placement may take place in any organization located and registered in any country (except Poland) participating in the Erasmus+ programme, including both EU countries and third countries associated and not associated with the programme.

The list of countries is available HERE.

In the case of a traineeship placement at a company or university located outside the EU, applications are possible only to companies or universities with which TUL has signed a cooperation agreement. It is possible to establish new cooperation subject to the approval of the Erasmus+ University Coordinator at PŁ. The host organization may be any public or private organization operating in the labour market or in the fields of education, training, and youth.

Long-term traineeship mobilities under the Erasmus+ programme are open to students enrolled at TUL — throughout the entire period of stay at the host institution — in first-, second-, and third-cycle degree programmes, as well as to graduates within 12 months after graduation, provided that the qualification process for the mobility takes place before the thesis defense.

Each candidate has a total of 360 days of physical mobility that may be used for Erasmus+ study and/or traineeship mobilities at each cycle of studies.

An Erasmus+ mobility participant may hold citizenship of any country in the world (eligibility for participation is determined by being a TUL student).

Detailed rules regarding the mobility programme can be found HERE.

Participation in an international traineeship offers numerous benefits that significantly facilitate graduates’ entry into the job market:

  • you gain valuable experience in an international environment;
  • you develop your language skills;
  • you establish new contacts that may help you find employment in the future;
  • you become familiar with modern working methods and techniques that support career development.

In addition to the above, you also develop so-called soft skills on a daily basis through interaction with people from different countries, backgrounds, and cultures.

International traineeships are an important asset in your CV and will help you stand out in the labour market.

In the case of long-term mobilities, the student receives an Erasmus+ grant for the duration of the mobility period (up to a maximum of 180 days), as well as for travel days, and additionally a travel allowance in the form of a lump sum. The amount of travel support depends on the distance between the host university/company and Łódź. The distance is calculated using distance calculator available on the European Commission website.

For the funding period of a stay at a foreign institution under the Erasmus+ programme, a student/PhD candidate/graduate may not receive any other funding from European Union funds to cover similar costs.

For travel to an institution located within 500 km of TUL, the use of environmentally friendly means of transport (“Green Travel”) is recommended.

“Green Travel” refers to journeys that are largely carried out using sustainable means of transport, such as train, bus, or carpooling, where carpooling is understood as shared travel by individuals travelling for personal purposes along the same route. “Green Travel” does not include travel by plane, ferry, boat, or solo car travel.

In the case of travel classified as “Green Travel”, participants are entitled to an increased travel allowance as well as the possibility of receiving additional individual support for travel days (up to a maximum of 6 days).

The student receives 80% of the scholarship before departure to the host university, while the remaining 20% is paid after submitting confirmation of completion of the stay at the partner university.

The scholarship rates are available HERE.
