As part of the component II of the Education Programme - Mobility Projects in Higher Education - Lodz University of Technology implements an academic mobility project for students and staff members, in cooperation with selected partner universities from Iceland and Norway.
The project is implemented between 01/07/2020 and 30/09/2022.
The total value of the project is EUR 95,020.

News 01-10-2022 - Success of a TUL student in a scientific poster competition. Ms Kamila Kwiatkowska, a student of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at the Faculty of Process Engineering and Environmental Protection (W9), won first place in a competition during the 1st National Tuteech Scientific Conference organised by Wrocław University of Technology under the theme: 'Tutoring in the eyes of students'. The conference was aimed at students participating in the implementation of the project: "Masters of Didactics - Tutoring for the talented students". Our student is realising the project at TUL under the tutorship of dr Anna Klepacz-Smółka. Congratulations!
News 01-10-2021 - Lodz University of Technology has received another grant from the Ministry of Education and Science. Since 2018, the Lodz University of Technology has been awarded a total of almost PLN 997,000 for academic tutoring.
From October 2021, recruitment for a personalized tutoring program for outstanding and talented students of TUL has started. The students can take advantage of individual tutoring as part of the ministerial initiative "Masters of didactics – implementation of the tutoring model".
The implementation of the project's tasks and the final implementation of tutoring activities into university practice are planned for the years 2020 - 2023. The project "Masters of didactics - implementation of the tutoring model" assumes conducting personalized classes for talented and outstanding students of TUL for 3 semesters - long-term tutoring. Aims of the project:
The main aim of the project is to implement a tutoring program into the university practice. It serves to raise the competences of the academic staff, which will allow for targeted support of particularly talented students. Students participating in the project will be tutored for up to three semesters. Their mentors will be experienced teachers who have developed their competences in the previous editions of the "Masters of didactics" program. Recruitment for personalized long-term tutoring will start at the beginning of the winter semester of the 2021/22 academic year.
Project objective:
The aim of the project is to implement into university practice leading classes with eminently talented students of the Lodz University of Technology using the tutoring method. The form of conducting classes will result from the developed tutoring model, using the knowledge gained by tutors during foreign study visits and will take into account the autonomous approach of the university to modern educational methods. The tutoring program is tailored to the needs of the student, but when carrying out classes using the tutoring method, both parties benefit, inspiring each other and learning from each other. Academic tutoring as an innovative method of developing creativity and independent thinking consists of supporting activities the student in creating forward-looking plans, based on interests and talents. Tutoring gives students the opportunity to engage in the experience of peer tutoring on the way of realizing their own tutoring path.

Lodz University of Technology has implemented the 'Masters of Didactics' project in four editions under contracts concluded with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for the implementation of tasks in the years 2018-2023. The first three editions were of a pilot nature, involving foreign training of tutors and short-term tutoring during classes conducted for almost 700 students. The aim of the first editions of the programme was to increase the competence of the staff in the use of modern educational methods. The fourth edition of the project, entitled ‘Masters of didactics - implementation of the tutoring model’, focused on long-term, three-semester support for 51 gifted students and did not include training for tutors, but was aimed at implementing the tutoring model in university practice.
Training abroad and national modular training, focusing on basic tutoring, started in 2019 and ended in 2022. Seventy-five university teachers from the Lodz University of Technology completed them. The advanced training courses, led by experts from the University of Groningen, started in 2021 and ended in 2023, and were attended by 16 academic teachers identified by the training organisers and completed according to four development paths: Advanced Teaching and Tutoring Qualification, Educational Leadership, Train the Trainer and a combination of Train the Trainer and Educational Leadership.
The mutual benefits in the ‘student-master’ relationship have paid off for our University in 2023 with the development of a tutoring model, practised in three guises: pastoral tutoring (personal tutoring), tutoring for talents and peer tutoring.
Tutoring has been present on a daily basis in the educational process at all faculties of the Lodz University of Technology for several years. The tutoring model was officially introduced into the didactic practice of the Polytechnic by a communiqué of the Vice-Rector for Education as of 31 January 2023 and is an obvious contributor to the many successes and distinctions of our students.
The ‘Masters of Didactics’ project has contributed to raising the quality of education and developing the teaching competences of academic staff by introducing innovative teaching methods based on direct cooperation between tutors and students. The ‘Masters of Didactics’ project remains sustainable until 31-12-2024, and the tutoring method has entered the list of active educational methods as an integral part of modern methods and techniques for acquiring knowledge at TUL.

‘Masters of Didactics’ at Lodz University of Technology the basic information about the project
The project is carried out by Lodz University of Technology, commissioned by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, as part of the non-competition project of an implementation nature entitled ‘Masters of Didactics’ under Measure 4.3 Transnational cooperation of the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development (No. POWR.04.03.00-00-0074/17).
The aim of the project is to improve the competences of academic staff in the use of innovative teaching methods, in particular academic tutoring. As part of the project, a group of academic teachers takes part in study visits to selected renowned European Universities. Then each of the trained teachers conducts classes using tutoring with selected students of the TUL.
Information for TUL academics participating in the project
In the course of the project, academic teachers undergo training in tutoring in one of the selected centres abroad and then conduct classes with students using this method. In addition, the participants are to disseminate the tutoring knowledge gained among the staff of their home units and throughout Lodz University of Technology.
Foreign centres which offer study visits:

The duration, form of training and programme depend on the centre concerned. Some of the training courses also involve additional meetings in Poland in the form of workshops and conferences. Study visits are organised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, which covers the entire cost of the foreign trip. The employment of participants in the project and the settlement of student activities is handled by the Masters of Didactics project office at TUL.
The project is coordinated by the International Cooperation Centre, and the project manager is the director of the ICC: Dorota Piotrowska, Ph.D., Prof. at TUL.

Flipped Education at TUL - visit of an American specialist under Fulbright Program
Dr. Elizabeth Mauch from Bloomsburg University in the United States, a specialist with over twenty years of experience in the application of student oriented teaching methods, came at the invitation of the Centre for International Education to Lodz University of Technology
The visit was part of the Fulbright Specialist Program, co-financed by the Polish-American Fulbright Commission. The Program enables Polish institutions to establish cooperation with outstanding American specialists and jointly implement projects in Poland.
During her two-week stay, from May 20 to June 2, 2019, Dr. Mauch gave an open lecture on the model of flipped classroom - an integral part of the student-centred system - and held workshops and individual consultations with 66 academic teachers representing various fields of study at our university. During the classes, our staff were able to familiarise themselves with the practical aspects of flipped classroom teaching.
The results of the visit will be used in the process of implementing the flipped education model at our university starting from the academic year 2019/2020.
