Studies that fulfill your dreams - student's perspective

Dear secondary school graduates and future students of Lodz University of Technology! My name is Adrian Wulkiewicz. I am a third-year engineering student at the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering. Today I will tell you about the studies that fulfill my dreams.
 

Why these studies?

               For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to do something more in life than learn dry facts. I have also always been drawn towards math and chemistry. My love for science and my desire to protect the environment make a perfect combination with the opportunities for development that TUL offers. I am learning about modern environmental protection technologies in one of the most modern laboratories in Europe - in LabFactor at TUL I have the opportunity to conduct research at the highest level.

What did I discover at university?

               After the first year of studies I knew that if I put my mind to my studies, there will be a lot of opportunities for development. In addition to knowledge and a diploma, studying environmental engineering also gives you the opportunity to obtain building qualifications in a number of specializations: construction and building, installation in the field of renewable energy sources, networks and installations as well as heating, ventilation, gas, water and sewage equipment. With these qualifications, you can work in designing modern buildings. We can also design modern sanitary installations, air conditioning, gas pipelines and much more. And if someone does not like working behind the desk, they can work in the field, for example, when taking samples for analysis.

What does college look like?    

                The first semesters prepare the students to understand and solve the problems they will face in subsequent semesters. During the following years, the students acquire the knowledge that every engineer should have. They learn how to design, and use programs necessary for student work, or how to solve engineering problems. They can also take advantage of many opportunities to develop their own interests, thanks to numerous student research groups that operate at the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering. I belong to the "Oktan" Student Research Group, where we create amazing projects, such as Chemcar, which is a vehicle powered by a chemical reaction that is not a combustion reaction.

Studies and sport

The university supports not only academic but also sport passions. I have been training water polo in the Lodz club "Lodz Sports Water Polo Association" since September 2009. I know from my own experience that it is possible to combine studying with passion for sports and to train in professional clubs at sports facilities belonging to Lodz University of Technology, such as the Sports Bay swimming pool. I prepared there, among others, for the 2019 Academic European Championships in Koper, where I won the title of European Champion.

Why is it worth it?

               First of all, studies are the best period in everyone's life. It is when you meet the greatest number of people, it is when you will undertake your first serious projects, often on an international scale, and make your dreams of international exchanges come true. Lodz University of Technology offers great opportunities for development. The classes are conducted by experts in their fields who offer a helping hand at every step. I strongly encourage you to study at the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering. Perhaps we will meet soon at the university or we can work together on an interesting project in the student research group Oktan.
