Times Higher Education World University Ranking
In 2017, Lodz University of Technology took part for the first time in the international university ranking – Times Higher Education World University Ranking, which is one of the most recognizable and valued rankings in the world. It is created in cooperation with the Thomson Reuters Agency. The latest WUR 3.0 methodology, takes into account 18 indicators grouped into five areas - teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook.
The number of Polish HEIs classified in the ranking has been increasing. In the 2018 and 2019 editions 12 Polish universities were included, in 2021 edition – 19, in 2022 - 25, in 2023 - 32 and in the last 2024 - 37. In the most recent editon Lodz University of Technology was ranked 1201-1500.
In 2018, Lodz University of Technology also took part in the ranking by subject for the first time - in Business & Economics, Computer Science, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences, and Physical Sciences.
In 2021, the university was classified in THE Impact Rankings for the first time. These are the global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The university's debut was successful - in SDG 8. (Decent work and economic growth) TUL was ranked 201-300, and in the overall ranking 801-1000. In the 2023 edition, it was ranked 101-200 in SDG 8, in SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) - 301-400, and in SDG 9 (Innovation, Industry, Infrastructure) - 301-400. In the overall ranking, the university maintained its position from a year ago, in the range 601-800.
