Times Higher Education World University Ranking

In 2017, Lodz University of Technology took part for the first time in the international university ranking – Times Higher Education World University Ranking, which is one of the most recognizable and valued rankings in the world. It is created in cooperation with the Thomson Reuters Agency. The latest WUR 3.0 methodology, takes into account 18 indicators grouped into five areas - teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook.

The number of Polish HEIs classified in the ranking has been increasing. In the 2018 and 2019 editions 12 Polish universities were included, in 2021 edition – 19, in 2022 - 25, in 2023 - 32, in 2024 – 37, and in the last 2025 - 40. In the most recent editon Lodz University of Technology was ranked 1201-1500. 

In 2018, Lodz University of Technology also took part in the ranking by subject for the first time - in Business & Economics, Computer Science, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences, and Physical Sciences and has been ranked every year since.

In 2021, the university was classified in THE Impact Rankings for the first time. These are the global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This is now the fourth time the university has been ranked in this prestigious ranking. This year, TUL made its debut in SDG 5 - Gender equality, ranking high in the 301-400 range (1,361 ranked institutions). Once again, TUL was ranked 1st in the country in SDG 8 - Decent work and economic growth, and was ranked in this category in the global TOP 200. In SDG 17 - Partnerships for the goals, the university was ranked in the 401-600 range (4th in Poland). TUL also competed in SDG 9 - Industry, innovation, and infrastructure (ranking 301-400th globally and 3rd in Poland), in SDG 10 - Reduced inequalities and SDG 3 - Good health and well-being.

The ranking evaluated 2,152 universities, with 1,963 in Overall Ranking, including 25 from Poland.
