Times Higher Education World University Ranking
In 2017, Lodz University of Technology took part for the first time in the international university ranking – Times Higher Education World University Ranking, which is one of the most recognizable and valued rankings in the world. It is created in cooperation with the Thomson Reuters Agency. The ranking includes 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), knowledge transfer (2.5%), and international outlook (7.5%).
The number of Polish HEIs classified in the ranking has been increasing. In the 2018 and 2019 editions 12 Polish universities were included, in 2021 edition – 19, in 2022 - 25, and in 2023 - 32. Lodz University of Technology has been ranked 1501+. Wroclaw Medical University performs the best - it is classified in the range of 351-400.
In 2018, Lodz University of Technology also took part for the first time in the ranking by subject - in Business & Economics, Computer Science, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences, and Physical Sciences.
In 2021, the university was classified in THE Impact Rankings for the first time. These are the global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The university's debut was successful - in SDG 8. (Decent work and economic growth) TUL was ranked 201-300, and in the overall ranking 801-1000. In the 2022 edition TUL moved up significantly - in SDG 8. it was ranked 101-200, in SDG 17. (Partnership for the goals) - 201-300, and in SDG 9 (Industry, innovation, and infrastructure) - 300-400. In the overall ranking TUL was classified 601-800.
