The results of the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2024 have been released, with Lodz University of Technology moving up 52 positions compared to last year and being ranked 1186th in the world (in the 'universities' category).

In the Eastern Europe regional table, TUL has climbed to the 46th spot out of 451 universities, marking a rise of 12 positions. Nationally, it stands at 19th place (up 2 positions).

In addition to the overall ranking, subject rankings have been also published. Notably, in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, the university has been ranked 1st in Poland and 243rd in the world (out of 2,142 classified universities). In Agricultural and Biological Sciences, TUL has secured 2nd place in the country and ranks 439th globally. Moreover, the university has been ranked 3rd in Chemistry, 4th in Biochemistry, Genetics, and Molecular Biology, and 6th in Physics and Astronomy within the country.

The ranking has encompassed a total of 9,054 entities from diverse sectors, including 4,762 universities, with 70 Polish HEIs making the list. Leading the global rankings are Harvard University, followed by the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University. Among Polish HEIs, Jagiellonian University, University of Warsaw, and Nicolaus Copernicus University secured the top positions.

The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is a classification of academic and research-related institutions ranked by a composite indicator that combines three different sets of indicators based on research performance (50%), innovation outputs (30%) and societal impact measured by their web visibility (20%).
