In Poland, it ranked 15th among 26 universities. The university performed best in the “Health & Wellbeing” indicator group, which assesses the institution’s commitment to improving human health and well-being (through research) as well as the welfare of staff and students. In this category, TUL ranked 356th worldwide.

This year’s edition included nearly 2,000 institutions from around the world, highlighting the growing importance of sustainability efforts in higher education. The leaders of the ranking are: Lund University (Sweden), University of Toronto (Canada), and University College London (United Kingdom). In Poland, the highest-ranked universities were: Jagiellonian University (271st), University of Warsaw (286th), and University of Gdańsk (363rd).

The QS Sustainability Ranking analyzes universities’ contributions to building a sustainable future, based on 53 indicators grouped into three areas: environmental impact, social impact, and governance.

QS World University Rankings: Sustainability evaluates universities’ actions in the areas of environment, social responsibility, and corporate governance (ESG). The ranking is based on evidence of engagement—from the impact graduates have on science and technology to address climate issues, to the influence of research conducted in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals—allowing for an assessment of academic institutions’ contributions to building a sustainable future.

The partners of the EUREKA project met in Lodz to discuss the next steps in implementing the Intensive International Education Programme “The Europe Ready Challenge”.

At the beginning of December, the EUREKA project team – “Global Challenges, Local Solutions: Shaping Future Leaders through Knowledge and Innovation” - held a meeting at the International Cooperation Centre. The event brought together representatives of Lodz University of Technology (TUL) and partners from Avantika University (India), University Malaysia Perlis (Malaysia), and Papua New Guinea University of Technology (Papua New Guinea).

The aim of the meeting was to summarise the activities completed so far and to plan the next stages of the Intensive International Education Programme “The Europe Ready Challenge”, which will combine online classes with a three-week stay of students from partner institutions in Lodz. Based on the Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) methodology, the programme will allow participants to gain practical skills by solving real-world problems in collaboration with local companies.

During the meeting, the potential of Lodz University of Technology and the partner institutions was presented, along with an overview of the CBL methodology, the programme’s key assumptions, and issues related to student recruitment and mobility arrangements.

The EUREKA project, implemented under the NAWA SPINAKER programme, aims to enhance the quality of education at Lodz University of Technology and increase the university’s attractiveness to international students, particularly from the Asia and Oceania region. Through innovative approaches and international cooperation, participants will acquire competencies valued on the global labour market, and the micro-credentials they obtain will enrich their educational and professional portfolios.

The project is implemented under the SPINAKER programme which is financed from the European Fund for Social Development 2021-2027 (FERS) as part of the NAWA project entitled "Support for the creation and implementation of international education programs", project number FERS.01.05-IP.08-0436/23.

Lodz University of Technology has joined the ranks of Europe’s top technical universities! In the EngiRank 2025 ranking, it secured the 121st position out of 239 universities from 36 countries, confirming its strong standing in key engineering fields

The latest results of the European Engineering Studies Ranking – EngiRank 2025 – have been published. The podium was taken by: Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Delft University of Technology, and KU Leuven – leaders in innovation and research in Europe. Five Polish technical universities made it into the top 100, with AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków ranking highest in the country (50th place).

The EngiRank 2025 results were officially announced on December 1 in Brussels during the seminar “Engineering for Security: Universities and Industry in Service of Defense”, attended by rectors of leading European universities and representatives of major defense companies such as Patria, Leonardo, PGZ, Rheinmetall, Safran Group, and Rolls-Royce. Among the panelists was Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik – Rector of Lodz University of Technology – representing our university in a discussion on the role of engineering in Europe’s security.

In addition to the overall classification, subject-specific rankings were also published, covering the main engineering disciplines. Lodz University of Technology was ranked in all seven categories. It performed best in Chemical Engineering, taking 3rd place in Poland and 77th in Europe. In Mechanical Engineering, it ranked 5th nationally and 131st in Europe. In three categories, it placed 6th in Poland: Electrical, Electronic & Information Engineering (EEI) – 110th in Europe; Materials Engineering – 153rd; and Medical Engineering – 116th. In Civil Engineering (126th in Europe) and Environmental Engineering (180th in Europe), it ranked 9th nationally.

The EngiRank ranking is fully transparent and based exclusively on external data. It considers not only publications and citations but also cooperation with industry, patents, participation in EU programs (Horizon Europe, Erasmus+), engineering accreditations (ENAEE, ABET), and contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals. Thanks to this, it is a reliable tool for prospective students and employers, showcasing the real potential of universities.

EngiRank 2025 was developed for the third time by the Educational Foundation Perspektywy – a leader in educational rankings in Poland. Data for the ranking comes from the Scopus Elsevier database, the European Patent Office PATSTAT, Horizon Europe, and organizations accrediting engineering studies (ABET, ENAEE).

The International Cooperation Centre has received financial support to implement the Erasmus+ KA171 project with third countries not associated to the Programme. The project will run until July 2028.

Thanks to the allocated funds of over EUR 240,000, it will be possible to carry out exchanges with partner universities in 16 countries. The project includes institutions from Argentina, Honduras, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, El Salvador, South Africa, Ukraine, the United States and Uzbekistan. Newly established partnerships include universities from Ethiopia, Taiwan, Oman, Papua New Guinea and Nigeria.

Under the project, students and doctoral candidates may spend one semester studying at a selected partner university. Academic and administrative staff are offered one-week teaching or training mobility opportunities. These mobilities provide an excellent chance to share experiences, build valuable relationships and strengthen international cooperation. The bilateral nature of the programme also makes it possible to invite distinguished academics to deliver lectures, workshops or training sessions using modern educational methods.

Currently Erasmus+ KA171 projects with non-EU countries launched under the 2023 and 2024 calls are also underway. The mobility activities completed so far have contributed to the development of educational and research collaboration, as well as the implementation of joint initiatives with academic institutions in partner countries.

We hope that the new edition of the Erasmus+ programme for 2025–2028 will bring many international initiatives.
